Calendar Block Exchange 2025-26 !

Summary of exchange: Each month, those wishing to participate will bring in a completed 8 X 12” block representing a theme for the month that follows the current meeting. For example, bring to the December meeting a January-themed block. You get to pick the motif and technique. Make sure you have quilted and bound your block. Unfinished blocks will not be accepted.

Blocks will be gathered and numbers drawn to award the blocks to those participating. Some months will have more blocks than others. No need to sign up or remember who you are supposed to pass along to.

Quilt Calendar Holder

 Finished Size  17 x 28

  1. Fold flap in half. insert wooden dowel/stick and sew a pocket for it. Remove wood. Place on lower half of front piece

  2. Sew borders around front and flap, leaving a gap to slip the dowels in.

  3. Lay your sandwich down, front and back right sides together, batting on back side.

  4. Hem short ends of sleeve. Fold wrong sides together and lay raw edges even with top of sandwich.

  5. Sew sides and top. Insert one dowel between back and batting just above the flap, the other in the flap pocket. Turn.

  6. Stitch bottom either by hand or machine.

  7. Stitch in the ditch around borders, catching bottom of sleeve.

  8. Hand stitch the gap left for the dowels. Take a couple of stitches to keep the upper dowel from slipping.

  9. Add Velcro to hold changeable 8X12 monthly quilts.

MAKING APPLIQUE LETTERS FOR THE NAMES OF THE MONTHS

  1. Open a Microsoft Word document

  2. .Pick a font that you like and type the name of the month.

  3. Alter the font size until the letters are the size you want

    • If you can’t find the size you want. click ‘Format’ on your tool bar and then click ‘Font’. You can now type in any font size you want.

  4. Print. If you want to save ink you can click 'Format' and ‘Font’ again. Under ‘Effects' check the box labeled ‘Outline'.

  5. Once your letters have printed, nun the paper over and trace the letters.

  6. You need the letters to be reversed before you trace them onto fusible web.
